Martina Baroni – Mezzosoprano

ABOUT

Martina Baroni won the first prize and the Best Italian Female Voice Prize at the International Competition “Gaetano Zinetti” in November 2023. Additionally, she was awarded the first prize at the German Lieder Competition “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb” in January 2024, where she performed the final concert at Berlin Konzerthaus with the Konzerthausorchester, conducted by Maestro Giulio Cilona.

She pursued a Master’s in Konzergesang at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich under the guidance of Professor Christiane Iven. Martina Baroni graduated also in piano, vocal, and chamber vocal performance from the Conservatory “G. Verdi” in Torino under M° E. Battaglia and S. Silbano, as well as from the Scuola di Musica in Fiesole.

Starting from the 2024-2025 season, at only 25 years old, she is a member of the prestigious ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, performing roles such as the Vixen in “The Cunning Little Vixen” conducted by Marko Letonja, Polina in “Pikowaja Dama” conducted by Juraj Valcuha, Fenena in “Nabucco” under the baton of Paolo Arrivabeni, Lucilla in the new production of “La Fiamma” by Respighi, directed by Christof Loy and conducted by M° Carlo Rizzi, Rosina in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, conducted by Giulio Cilona, Mercédès in “Carmen”, conducted by Ariane Matiakh, and others. She will also make her debut in Vivaldi Stabat mater with Haydn Orchester in Trento. She will also perform Wagner’s complete Wesendonk Lieder with the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin under the baton of Giulio Cilona at the Choriner Musiksommer Festival.

In the 2025-2026 season, she will make her soloist debut in Berg’s  Sieben Frühe Lieder with the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Torino at the MITO Festival and in Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with the Schubert Filharmonia at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid. Additionally, she will perform at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Palau de la Música, and on tour, starring in Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium with Il Gardellino Orchestra under the direction of Christophe Prégardien.

At Deutsche Oper Berlin, she will take on roles such as Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Fenena (Nabucco) and others. She will also perform as Sesto in a new production of Giulio Cesare, conducted by Stefano Montanari.

She has appeared as a soloist in chamber music concerts and festivals across Europe, including MiTo Settembre Musica, Unione Musicale di Torino, Festival des Nuits Romantiques in Aix-les-Bains, and Mozartfest in Würzburg. She performed in Bruckner “d minor Messe” in Passau with Orchestra l’Arpa Festante. Martina Baroni made her debut at Teatro Regio di Torino as Frantik in “The Cunning Little Vixen” and as Volpe and Un Passante in “Il Piccolo Principe” by P. Valtinoni. She has also performed Britten’s “Phoedra” at the Conservatory in Torino.

Beginning as a choir member, Baroni performed in “Aida” at Teatro Regio di Torino, Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem” at the Verbier Festival with the Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and “Matthäus Passion” at the Stresa Festival.
